CBD Vets Australia is Australia’s leading medical cannabis prescriber for pets.

CBD Vets Australia recognises the potential that medical cannabis therapies provide as an alternative or adjunct health treatment for pets.

We’ve developed research and training programs to assist Australia’s veterinarians in legally accessing CBD treatments for their pet patients.

We pride ourselves on being the first within the legal medicinal cannabis pet space in Australia and an industry leader. We strive for excellence, offering quality treatment and service.

WHY CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid found in the cannabis plant species that acts on endocannabinoid receptors in the body. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex system interdependent and interwoven with almost every other system in the body. It has dynamic relationships with the immune, digestive, cardiovascular, and nervous systems.

CBD has been researched for a wide range of medicinal effects in humans, and in more recent years, studies have been conducted on the benefits of CBD for household pets.

CBD can be prescribed alongside more traditional veterinary treatments if deemed appropriate. It can be used to enhance treatment outcomes for a wide variety of conditions in animals such as:

  • Epilepsy
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Chronic pain
  • Anxiety
  • Allergies and skin conditions

We work in collaboration with vets, training and educating on how to appropriately prescribe medical cannabis for animals within a legal framework for each state and territory across Australia.

Our team is well versed in the correct doses, formulations and potential side effects that can occur when giving dogs and cats CBD. We also constantly keep up to date with the latest guidelines to ensure cats and dogs receive the more appropriate dosage and treatment plan for their individual needs.

BEWARE!

There are a lot of CBD products marketed to pet owners as CBD and claim to have therapeutic benefits. CBD-based products sold online are illegal in Australia. They may contain additives or toxins, and there is no guarantee what level of cannabinoids are in these products or they may contain no CBD at all.

Dogs are particularly sensitive to THC so not knowing the ingredients and potency of THC can be harmful or even fatal to your pet.
